1090 MHz does not bend round hills. Range depends on altitude and terrain, which is why an airliner at 38,000 feet is heard far further than a light aircraft in the circuit.
ADS-B carries no aircraft type. Helicopters come from the emitter category, state aircraft from their ICAO address block, and air ambulance and police from the UK conspicuity squawks and callsign prefixes. Anything that reports none of those is left unlabelled rather than guessed at.
Distances are measured from the centre of grid square IO93GE — a box about five kilometres across — rather than from the antenna itself. That keeps every figure honest to within a mile or two without putting a receiver's exact position on a public page.
