How signals are getting through
When a station decodes someone’s picture, it files a reception report — who copied it, at what signal-to-noise ratio, on what band.
Every reception report on record, plotted by how far it travelled and how cleanly it arrived. As the network spreads out and more of it moves to HF, the clusters should pull apart by band.
Every station against every other, coloured by how strongly the signal arrives. Direction matters: hearing a station is not the same as being heard by them, and the two halves of a path are often quite different.
Rows transmit, columns receive; the number in each cell is how many reports that path has produced. Hover a cell for the detail — and for the same path in the other direction, which is often not the same at all.
When the network is on the air
If you want to catch someone, this is when to be listening. Both charts count the pictures themselves, and both show their quiet slots rather than hiding them — an empty hour is an answer too.

What these numbers do and don’t know
Positions come from each station’s Maidenhead locator — the same square they already transmit on the air, and no finer. Only operators who opted in to publishing appear in the pictures. History starts when the service began recording, and the distance and signal records only know about contacts reported through the service: purely RF contacts that never touch the internet are invisible here, so treat these as a floor, not a full picture of activity.
Band, mode and frequency figures are counted from the most recent pictures rather than all history, so they describe what the network is doing lately.
