“Transmit is held until the picture completes”

Not a fault — a picture is decoding and keying up would destroy it for everyone listening. The bar clears the moment the picture finishes (or the signal is lost — a stalled reception frees itself after a few seconds of silence, with a countdown in the status area).

A reception stuck at “receiving”

Shouldn’t happen any more: the watchdog clears a dead reception after ~5 seconds without data and keeps the partial picture. If you ever see it stick longer, note the status log lines and report it.

Received pictures aren’t in the folder / won’t open

Every received picture is saved to the received folder with a proper image extension. Older versions had a bug that saved some without one — current versions repair those automatically at startup (the status log reports how many it fixed). If a file still won’t open, it likely arrived corrupt over RF.

I appear twice on the dashboard / roster

Historic reinstall artefact — the machine identity is stable across reinstalls now and duplicates age out on their own within a few days.

The map is empty

• No stations currently on air is the boring, common answer.
• Check your internet connection — presence rides on it.
• Press Sync on the map header to re-query immediately.

The update banner names a version I don’t have

The banner reflects what the service currently offers you. If it looks wrong, it usually clears at the next app restart (the offer is re-checked at launch).

Which build am I actually running?

Status log, first lines after launch: Open Signal 0.22.3 — build 24 Jul 20:33. When reporting any problem, quote that line — it identifies your exact build.

Use the Report a problem link in any update email (it files a ticket tied to your callsign, and you get a ticket number + email updates), or ask the service operator directly.
