Overview

A registrar module that connects WHMCS to the Porkbun v3 API, so domains your customers order are registered, renewed, transferred and managed automatically in your Porkbun account.

It installs like any other WHMCS registrar, sits alongside the ones you already use, and can be assigned per-TLD — so you might run .com through Porkbun and leave .co.uk where it is, or move everything across.

What it does

The domain lifecycle

Registration, renewal and inbound transfer all run through the API against your Porkbun account credit. Expiry dates and domain status sync back into WHMCS on the daily cron, and transfers are polled until they complete or fail.

Nameservers and DNS

Read and write the domain’s nameservers from WHMCS. If the domain uses Porkbun’s nameservers, the WHMCS DNS tab manages the A, CNAME, MX, TXT and other host records directly — no second control panel for your customers to learn. See DNS and nameservers.

Domain contacts

Registrant, admin, tech and billing contacts are readable and editable from the WHMCS domain page, with the registrant change triggering the usual ICANN verification email.

Pricing

This is the part most registrar modules leave to you. Porkbun publishes a live price list, and the module can either hand those cost prices to WHMCS’s own Import Pricing wizard, or apply your markup rules and write finished retail prices into Domain Pricing on a nightly schedule. Availability lookups

Optionally, the module can answer the domain search itself — asking the registries through Porkbun rather than relying on WHOIS, 25 domains per API call. See Availability lookups.

Webhooks

Porkbun can push signed events the moment something happens, so a transfer that completes at 3am shows as active by 3:01 rather than waiting for the next cron run. See Webhooks.

Who it suits

It suits anyone who wants Porkbun’s prices without Porkbun’s dashboard being part of the job. Porkbun’s registration costs are among the lowest available without a reseller contract, and there is no volume commitment, no annual fee and no minimum — you top up account credit and spend it.

It suits web agencies and small hosts in particular, because the pricing sync solves the problem that makes cheap registrars expensive to resell: registry prices move, nobody notices, and a TLD quietly starts costing more to renew than you charge for it.

What it is not

It is not a reseller integration. Porkbun has no reseller tier. You register at Porkbun’s normal published prices in your own account and set your own margin in WHMCS. What you get is a low cost base, not a wholesale one.

It is not a way around the API’s limits. Registrations and renewals are for the registry-minimum term, usually one year, per call. Premium domains cannot be bought through the API at all. EPP codes have to come from the dashboard. These are Porkbun’s constraints, and the module surfaces them rather than hiding them. The full list is in Limits and known gaps.
