Edit a picture before sending

Crop, rotate, adjust colours or burn in a caption without leaving Open Signal — the staged preview rebuilds so you always see exactly what will transmit.

Every staged picture has an Edit… button (in the ready-to-transmit strip and on the Transmit screen). It opens a small editor so you can fix a picture without leaving the app.

What you can do

  • Crop — drag a box over the part you want.
  • Rotate / flip — for the phone photo that came in sideways.
  • Colours — brightness, contrast, saturation adjustments.
  • Caption — burn a line of text into the picture itself.

Apply, and the staged preview rebuilds — what you see is what transmits, including the callsign stamp on top. The cost line updates too, since a crop changes the encoded size.

Notes

  • Editing re-encodes the picture, so an animated GIF becomes a still if you edit it — leave GIFs unedited to keep the animation.
  • The edit applies to this staged send; the original file on disk is never touched.
